On June 13 and 14, the first regional conference on artificial intelligence took place in the Gutenberg Digital Hub in Mainz ("First Mainz and Friends Artificial Intelligence Conference (MAInC 2023)"). MAInC 2023 featured keynotes by Dinesh Chenchanna (ZDF), Roberto Esposito (Univ. Torino), Nuria Oliver (ELLIS Alicante), and Wanja Wiese (Ruhr-Uni Bochum). The scientific program also included peer-reviewed contributions, with in total 15 talks and 19 poster presentations. Amongst others, first results from the TOPML project, funded by Carl Zeiss Foundation, were presented, as well as general developments of AI from methodological and societal perspectives. The conference venue, Gutenberg Digital Hub, proved to be an excellent choice for such an event. We were also pleased about the participation from industry and neighboring disciplines. We would like to thank the Carl-Zeiss Foundation for funding this successful event.
SWR has a news report, starting at the 3rd minute, about the first Mainz Artificial Intelligence Conference.
